when using only black printing does any other cartridge are they doing any thing or do i have to print color printing to use other cartridge and how many prints on one cartridge

Sometime printer may count color even though you are printing only black since they may be some gray scale in your prints. If you do not want the printer to use color at all, change it to monochrome mode before printing.
